Swiss National Park

Founded in 1914 and the oldest national park in the Alps and in central Europe, lying in the Western Rhaetian Alps between Zernez, S-chanf, Scuol and the Fuorn Pass. At 170.3 square kilometres it is the largest nature reserve in Switzerland, part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve network and classified IUCN category Ia. The strictest there is, which is why leaving the marked paths is forbidden. Piz Quattervals at 3,165 metres is the highest peak in it. It remains the only national park in the country; a proposed Adula park was voted down in 2016.
