Drottningholm Palace

Drottningholm Palace is one of Sweden’s royal palaces and the private residence of the royal family, on Lovön island in Ekerö Municipality just west of Stockholm. It was built in the late seventeenth century and served as a regular summer residence of the court through most of the eighteenth. The gardens, the Chinese Pavilion and the surviving court theatre are open while the family is in residence in one wing, an arrangement that makes the visit feel less like a museum than most palaces do.
