Tyresta National Park

Tyresta National Park, with its surrounding nature reserve, lies in Haninge and Tyresö municipalities in Stockholm County, about 20 kilometres from the centre of the capital. The landscape is a rift valley of a kind typical of central Sweden but unusual this close to a city. What it protects is old-growth pine forest, some of it never logged, on ground that has been left alone while the suburbs grew around it, which is why a forty-minute bus ride ends in genuine wilderness.
