Sigtuna

Sigtuna is a locality in Sigtuna Municipality, Stockholm County, with 9,689 inhabitants in 2020. The namesake of the municipality even though the seat is at Märsta. It is still often referred to as a stad for historical reasons. It sits on the bay of Skarven, part of Lake Mälaren. Founded around 980, it is generally reckoned the oldest town still standing in Sweden, and the main street is thought to follow the same line it did then, which is easier to feel than to see.
