Uppsala

Uppsala is the capital of Uppsala County and the fourth largest city in Sweden after Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, with 177,074 inhabitants in 2019, sitting 71 kilometres north of the capital. It has been the ecclesiastical centre of Sweden since 1164. Its cathedral towers reach 118.70 metres, and the city is the site of the oldest university in Scandinavia. Between them they set the tone: a small city with a very large intellectual footprint, and student traditions that visibly predate everything around them.
