Stockholm

Stockholm is the capital and most populous city of Sweden and the largest urban area in the Nordic countries, with about a million people in the municipality, 1.6 million in the urban area and 2.5 million across the metropolitan region. The city stretches across fourteen islands at the point where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic. That arrangement is the whole character of it: water is visible from almost everywhere, and the bridges do the work of streets.
