Dinant

Dinant stands on the banks of the Meuse in the Ardennes, in the province of Namur, about ninety kilometres south-east of Brussels and twenty kilometres north of the French border. The town is pressed into a narrow gap between the river and a limestone cliff, with the citadel above and the collegiate church below. The municipality takes in Anseremme, Bouvignes-sur-Meuse, Furfooz and several other districts along the valley. The setting does the work here: the walk or cable car up to the citadel opens the whole bend of the river, and the rock draws climbers.
