Sintra

Sintra is a town and municipality in Greater Lisbon on the Portuguese Riviera, with 385,654 people in 2021 across 319 square kilometres, one of the most urbanised and densely populated municipalities in Portugal. It is a major destination famed for its picturesqueness, and the reason is the hill: a damp, wooded ridge holding a nineteenth-century romantic palace, a Moorish castle wall and several estates within a few kilometres of each other. The microclimate keeps it green and often misty when Lisbon is dry.
