Rogaška Slatina

A spa town built on curative mineral water, and known for its crystal glass as well. The springs were named Roitschocrene by Johann Benedikt Gründel in 1687, and the water has been written about since the sixteenth century, when the alchemist Leonhard Thurneysser first described it; the imperial physician Paul de Sorbait followed in 1679, the Carniolan physician Marko Gerbec around 1700. The area was inhabited in antiquity with a Roman road leading to it, and a Salzburg document of 1141 mentions a Roman stone beside a spring here.
