Porto

Porto is the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon, capital of its district and one of the major urban areas of the Iberian Peninsula. The municipality itself is small, an estimated 273,476 people in just over 41 square kilometres, while the metropolitan area around it holds about 1.9 million. That compactness is the pleasure of it: the old city drops steeply to the Douro in a few hundred metres, and the river frontage, the bridges and the port lodges on the far bank are all within a walk of each other.
