Klitmøller

A small North Sea fishing village that the wind turned into one of Europe’s premier windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations, known to everyone as Cold Hawaii. The conditions suit wave performance in particular, and the town has hosted the Danish championships in that discipline since the 1990s, the European Championship in 1996 and a World Cup in 1998. Thy National Park borders it on the south and east, and two large lakes, Vester Vandet and Nors, lie inland. Marram, heather, crowberry, sea holly and marsh gentian grow on the dunes; cranes and wood sandpipers are regular.
