Inari

Finland’s largest municipality by area and one of its emptiest (17,333 square kilometres, of which 2,281 are water) and the only one with four official languages. With the Siida museum in the village, it is widely called the capital of Sámi culture. Lake Inari covers 1,043 square kilometres, the third largest in the country. Lemmenjoki, Finland’s biggest national park, lies partly inside the municipality, as does Urho Kekkonen, and vast further tracts are designated wilderness: Hammastunturi, Muotkatunturi, Paistunturi, Kaldoaivi, Vätsäri and Tsarmitunturi.
