Fårö

Fårö is a Baltic island immediately north of Gotland, the second largest in the county and a popular summer resort. It has its own language, Faroymal, a dialect of Gutnish, and the name also covers the socken taking in both Fårö and Gotska Sandön. It is known for its raukar, limestone sea stacks left standing on the shore by erosion, and for having been Ingmar Bergman’s home and location for decades, which is why the landscape looks familiar before you have been there.
