Breuil-Cervinia

Breuil-Cervinia is a frazione of the comune of Valtournenche, a winter and summer resort at the head of its valley under the Italian side of the Matterhorn. The name fuses two: Breuil, the older Valdôtain word for a marshy meadow, and Cervinia, added when the resort was built. It sits high enough that the season runs long, and it shares a ski area with Zermatt through the Plateau Rosa glacier, which makes it one of the few places you can ski from one country into another and back before dinner.
