Nazaré

Nazaré is a resort town and municipality in the Oeste region, in the historical province of Estremadura and the Leiria district, with 14,889 people in the municipality and around 10,000 in the town itself. It is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Silver Coast. It is also, now, famous for something else entirely: an underwater canyon offshore focuses swell into waves that have set world records, and the headland at Sítio is where people gather in winter to watch them break.
