Bastogne

Bastogne sits on a ridge in the Ardennes at 510 metres, in the province of Luxembourg, with the districts of Longvilly, Noville, Wardin and Villers-la-Bonne-Eau around it. In December 2024 it merged with Bertogne. It is known for a single winter: the town was encircled during the Battle of the Bulge and held, and the memorials, the museum and the surrounding forest roads carry that history openly. The Ardennes weather that made the fighting so costly is still the defining feature. Snow is common, and the woods hold mist well into a spring morning.
