About Slieve League

At 601 metres these are the second-highest sea cliffs in Ireland after Croaghaun, and among the highest in Europe. The naturalist Robert Lloyd Praeger described the mountain in 1937 as devoured by the sea until both faces fell sheer, leaving a long knife-edge summit; the traverse of that ridge, the One Man’s Path, he called one of the most remarkable walks in Ireland, not actually dangerous, but needing a good head on a stormy day. The northern precipice, dropping 1,500 feet, holds the most varied group of alpine plants in Donegal.
