Lake Siljan

Siljan, in Dalarna in central Sweden, is the country’s seventh largest lake; together with the adjacent Orsasjön and Insjön it covers 354 square kilometres. It reaches 134 metres deep, and its surface sits 161 metres above sea level, putting the lowest point of the basin at 27 metres. The basin is the remains of a meteorite impact crater, one of the largest in Europe. The villages around the shore keep the strongest folk traditions in Sweden, and midsummer here is not staged for visitors.
