Sete Cidades

Sete Cidades is a civil parish at the centre of the municipality of Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, sitting inside a massive volcanic crater five kilometres across that carries the same name. The population was 793 in 2011 across just over 19 square kilometres, making it one of the smallest parishes of Ponta Delgada by population and the largest by area. Two lakes fill the caldera floor, and the rim road above them is where the view everyone knows is taken from, when the cloud lifts, which is not guaranteed.
