Rocky Mountain National Park

About fifty-five miles northwest of Denver in the Front Range, between Estes Park to the east and Grand Lake to the west, with both slopes of the Continental Divide running through the middle and the headwaters of the Colorado River rising in the northwest of the park. Mountains, alpine lakes and a wide range of climates from wooded forest to mountain tundra fill it. Woodrow Wilson signed the establishing act on 26 January 1915, and the Civilian Conservation Corps built Trail Ridge Road, the main automobile route, in the 1930s.
