About Riquewihr
Riquewihr is a village in the Haut-Rhin, on the Route des Vins close to Colmar, known for its Riesling and other wines and for architecture that looks more or less as it did in the 16th century. Once the property of the Dukes of Württemberg, it served as a wine village and trading hub for Alsatian and German wine. Alsace is the only Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée region in France to produce mostly varietal wines, largely white, and along with Austria and Germany it makes some of the most noted dry Rieslings in the world. Walk the village early, then the vines above it.
