Philadelphia

Founded in 1682 by William Penn, an English Quaker and advocate of religious freedom, and capital of the colonial Province of Pennsylvania. It became the meeting place of the Founding Fathers and hosted the First Continental Congress, which is why so much of the country’s founding happened within a few streets. It is the most populous city in Pennsylvania and the sixth-largest in the United States, at the centre of a metropolitan area of 6.33 million people that straddles the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast.
