Kjerag

The mountain reaches 1,132 metres and its northern face drops 984 of them almost vertically into the Lysefjord. Wedged in a crevice at the edge is Kjeragbolten, five cubic metres of stone you can step onto without equipment, with 241 metres of nothing directly below and another 735 metres of mountain after that. Kjeragfossen falls off the same cliff into the fjord and ranks among the tallest waterfalls in the world. The easiest ascent is two and a half to three hours each way from Øygardsstølen. Late June to September is the season, depending on snow.
