Kebnekaise

Kebnekaise is the highest mountain in Sweden, its name from the Sami Giebmegáisi, cauldron crest. The massif forms part of the Scandinavian mountain range and has two main peaks. The glaciated southern peak used to be the higher at 2,120 metres, but has lost 24 metres over the last fifty years, so the northern peak is now the taller, one of the plainest illustrations of a warming climate available anywhere. Both routes to the top are guided in summer.
