Haro

Haro is a town in the north-west of La Rioja, and its business is red wine. It hosts the annual Haro Wine Festival, and the bodegas clustered by the railway station are the densest concentration of historic wineries in the region. Its architectural heritage includes the plateresque main entrance of the Church of Santo Tomás by Felipe Vigarny, a number of palaces, and an old town declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975. It was also the first town in Spain to have electric street lighting. Autumn, around the harvest, is when the town is at its most alive.
