Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre, Five Lands, is a coastal area of Liguria in north-west Italy, in the west of La Spezia province, made up of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the villages and the hillsides behind them all form the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The terraces above the sea were cut by hand over centuries and are still worked. The path linking the villages is the point, and sections of it close after heavy rain.
