Cévennes National Park

Cévennes National Park was created in 1970 in the mountainous Cévennes of southern France, with its administrative seat at Florac Castle. It lies mainly in Lozère and Gard but reaches into Ardèche and Aveyron as well, a record number of departments for a French national park. The Aven Armand cave is inside it. In 2011 the park became part of the Causses and Cévennes World Heritage listing, recognised for a landscape shaped by centuries of pastoralism. The high causses are open and exposed; the valleys below are chestnut and terraced.
