Cap de Creus

Cap de Creus is a peninsula and headland at the far north-east of Catalonia, about 25 kilometres south of the French border, lying in the municipal area of Cadaqués with Figueres, capital of the Alt Empordà and birthplace of Salvador Dalí, as the nearest large town. It is the easternmost point of Catalonia and so of mainland Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, and the 190-square-kilometre area is now a natural park. The rock is folded and wind-scoured into shapes that Dalí painted directly, and the tramuntana that made them still blows hard for days at a time.
