Åre

Åre is one of the leading ski resorts in Scandinavia, in Åre Municipality, Jämtland County, with 3,200 inhabitants in 2018, though the municipal seat is at Järpen rather than here. A quarter of the local economy rests on tourism, chiefly the downhill skiing and biking at Åre, Duved and Storlien. The season runs long because the mountain is high and the latitude does the rest, and the summer bike operation is now nearly as significant as the winter one.
