Grand Teton National Park

About 310,000 acres taking in the major peaks of the forty-mile Teton Range and most of the northern part of the valley called Jackson Hole. It lies ten miles south of Yellowstone, connected by the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway, and together with the surrounding national forests the three protected areas make up the almost 22-million-acre Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, one of the largest intact mid-latitude temperate ecosystems in the world. People have been here at least 11,000 years; the first European colonisers met the eastern Shoshone.
