Látrabjarg

The westernmost point in Iceland, and Europe’s largest bird cliff: fourteen kilometres long and up to 440 metres high, with millions of birds on it, puffins, northern gannets, guillemots and razorbills. The numbers matter beyond the spectacle, since the cliff holds up to 40 per cent of the world population of species such as the razorbill, which makes it critical to their survival rather than merely impressive. It sits at the far western end of the Westfjords. In 2026 a solar eclipse was visible from here.
