About Kaltern an der Weinstraße

Kaltern an der Weinstraße, Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino in Italian, is a village in South Tyrol about 12 kilometres southwest of Bolzano. It is famous for two things that share a name: its lake, the Kalterer See, and its wine, Kalterersee Auslese or Lago di Caldaro scelto. The cooking combines Italian and Tyrolean styles, and the Dolomites nearby are known for hiking and climbing routes. Its hamlets include St. Josef am See and Altenburg. Spend a warm day between the cellars and the lakeshore.
