Cagliari

Cagliari is the capital and largest city of Sardinia, an autonomous region of Italy, with about 145,981 inhabitants and some 536,245 across its metropolitan city of sixty-nine further municipalities. It climbs a limestone hill above its own port, with the walled Castello quarter at the top looking out over its sheltered harbour. Marshes and salt lagoons ring the city; they were part of its defences once, and the salt from them was one of its oldest exports.
