Venice

Venice is a coastal city in north-eastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto, built on 126 islands separated by open water and canals, with 472 bridges linking parts of it together. The islands lie in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay between the mouths of the Po and the Piave, more precisely between the Brenta and the Sile. There is no traffic, so distance is measured in bridges and wrong turns. The quiet northern sestieri after dark are the reason to stay the night rather than pass through.
