Bremen

Bremen, officially the City Municipality of Bremen, is the capital of the two-city state of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, which also takes in Bremerhaven. An important port city of about 586,000 people, it is the eleventh largest city in Germany and the second largest in the north after Hamburg. The market square is the set piece, the Roland statue and the town hall on it are both UNESCO-listed, and the city is known too for the Brothers Grimm’s Town Musicians of Bremen, and was named a UNESCO City of Literature in 2023.
