Kellerwald-Edersee National Park

Kellerwald-Edersee National Park covers 57.38 square kilometres in the North Hessian county of Waldeck-Frankenberg, lying south of the Edersee in the northern Kellerwald low mountain range. Since 25 June 2011 its beech forest has formed part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing. That forest is the point of the place: old, unmanaged red beech on steep valley sides, some of the largest surviving stands in central Europe. The park administration sits at Bad Wildungen, east of the park, and autumn is when the whole slope turns.
