Ballons des Vosges

The Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park was designated in 1989 and spans the regions of Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Its 187 member communes belong to the departments of Haut-Rhin, Vosges, Haute-Saône and Territoire de Belfort, and 238,000 people live inside it, which makes it one of the largest and most populated regional parks in the country. The range of habitat is what makes it: high open pasture, peat bog and beech forest within a short distance of each other. The rounded summits give it its name.
