Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park

The Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park is the only national park in the province of Pontevedra, and comprises the archipelagos of Cíes, Ons, Sálvora and Cortegada. It covers 1,200 hectares of land and 7,200 hectares of sea, and was the thirteenth national park established in Spain. It ranks tenth for visitor numbers. The proportions tell the story: this is mostly sea, and the islands are granite, dune and pine above white beach. Access is by boat and capped by permit in summer, which is what has kept the beaches in the state that made them famous.
