About Deidesheim

Deidesheim is a small town in the Bad Dürkheim district, in the Weinstraße region of the Palatinate, where tourism and winegrowing are the main industries. Its climate has almost Mediterranean traits, with figs, almonds and bitter oranges ripening, and there is proof of winegrowing here from 770. In the early 19th century it was the first place in the Palatinate whose wineries grew Qualitätsweine, and today it is one of the region’s biggest winegrowing centres. The Palatinate is the second largest wine region in Germany, with 23,698 hectares under vines. Its two biggest festivals are about wine: the Geißbockversteigerung, the Billygoat Auction, and the Deidesheimer Weinkerwe.
