Kenai Fjords National Park

A park of 669,984 acres on the Kenai Peninsula in south-central Alaska, west of the town of Seward, made up of the Harding Icefield, the glaciers flowing out of it, and the coastal fjords and islands below. The icefield is one of the largest in the United States and the source of at least 38 glaciers, the largest being Bear Glacier; the fjords the park is named for are glacial valleys submerged below sea level by a combination of rising seas and land subsidence. Exit Glacier, at the end of the park’s only road, is the popular destination; the rest is reached by boat, airplane or on foot.
